F.Y.I. — Feelings You Ignore

You don’t need everyone’s approval.

everyone's approval

You just need enough confidence to trust your own voice.

Because confidence grows when your opinion starts to matter more to you than everyone else’s.

It’s easy to say, “I don’t care what people think.”

But most of us do.

We wonder whether they’ll agree.
Whether they’ll judge us.
Whether they’ll understand our decision.
Whether they’ll think we’re making a mistake.

And sometimes, without even realizing it, we start making decisions based on reactions we haven’t even received yet.

That’s where approval can become a trap.

When other people’s opinions become louder than your own

Listening to people isn’t the problem.

Other people can give us perspective. They can challenge our assumptions. They can point out things we may have missed.

The problem begins when their opinion becomes the final authority over our choices.

You stop asking:

“What do I actually want?”

and start asking:

“What will everyone else think?”

approval from the world

Those are very different questions.

Confidence doesn’t mean never doubting yourself

Confidence isn’t the absence of doubt.

You can still feel uncertain and make the decision.

You can still be nervous and speak.

You can still wonder whether people will approve and choose to move forward anyway.

Confidence grows through those moments.

Every time you listen to yourself, make a decision, and accept the consequences of that decision, you’re learning to trust your own judgment.

You don’t have to convince everyone

Not everyone will understand your choices.

Some people may disagree.

Some may question you.

Some may even think you’re making the wrong decision.

That doesn’t automatically mean they’re right.

Sometimes, the need to make everyone understand us keeps us stuck longer than the decision itself.

You don’t need universal approval.

You need enough self-trust to know why you’re making the choice.

And sometimes, that’s enough.

A question worth asking

Before making your next important decision, try asking yourself:

“If nobody else had an opinion about this, what would I choose?”

The answer may not always be the right answer.

But it might help you hear your own voice again.

💬 Reflect

Have you ever let someone else’s opinion stop you from doing something you wanted to do?
